For most guys, I’m betting they would be thinking “sexy actress” but NOW, I’m sure many would think of “preggers and engaged” =) I ask this question coz according to an academic group discussion, when the name “Jessica Alba” was mentioned, the participants thought of “Woman”, “Latina” and “mixed race” first. This, despite the fact that our fave actress shared previously about not being able to speak Spanish and did not really got to know her Latin side very well. And this is not Jessica Alba’s fault okay?? That’s what her parents wanted.

Anyhoo, when “Hilary Clinton” was mentioned, all participants said “Woman” and only one said “presidential candidate” when she is both! When “Barack Obama” was mentioned, everyone labeled him black when (like Jess), he is of mixed race! According to the discussion’s resource person, “We’ve assigned him as black even though he is biracial … We decide biracial people’s race by the half that isn’t white.” I wonder why is that! No wonder Jessica Alba was very happy when film roles offered to her weren’t “traditional Latina” roles like being a maid, or a promiscuous woman, etc.
